Fiat is the only brand whose late-model used vehicles are more likely to be colorful than grayscale, a meaningful advantage for shoppers seeking a finish beyond black, white, gray or silver. Fiat’s 55.4% colorful share leads second-place MINI by 8.3 percentage points, while the Volkswagen ID. Buzz is the most colorful individual model at 74.8%. Those results stand out because overall, only 19.6% of vehicles are non-grayscale.
iSeeCars analyzed exterior colors on over 12 million 1- to 5-year-old used cars on the road from January 2025 through May 2026. It calculated the non-grayscale share for each brand and model, then ranked those shares.
Only Fiat posts a colorful majority
Subaru ranks fourth at 30.6%, followed by Mazda at 28.4%. After those leaders, the field compresses quickly. Hyundai at No. 8 has a 23.5% share of non-grayscale cars, while Honda and Tesla at 22 and 23 round to 19.6%, leaving 16 brands spread across only 3.9 percentage points.

Mercedes-Benz and Chrysler have the smallest shares of colorful cars
These six lowest brands are separated by only 3.4 percentage points, so their precise order should not be overemphasized. Still, each has a substantially higher grayscale mix than the overall market. Four of these 6 brands are luxury automakers, which tend to lean into grayscale colors more aggressively. German brands, including Volkswagen, also tend to favor grayscale colors, while last-ranked Chrysler is a popular rental car brand, and rental companies like the higher universal appeal of grayscale vehicles.
The ID. Buzz and 500e are aggressively colorful
Seven of the 20 most colorful models carry the MINI name, which supports why the brand ranks second overall for most-colorful brands. Four Chevrolet Corvette variants also make the list, along with the Toyota GR Supra, which aligns with sports cars as the most colorful vehicle segment generally.

One colorful model does not make a colorful brand
Volkswagen shows a large divergence between the ID. Buzz model’s colorful car share and the brand’s overall use of color. The ID. Buzz leads every model at 74.8%, yet Volkswagen ranks 36th among 38 brands at 12.2%, 38% below the overall average.
Cadillac, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz crowd the bottom of the list
The Cadillac Escalade IQ has the lowest colorful share at 0.9%, meaning fewer than one in 100 non-grayscale cars. The Toyota Land Cruiser follows at 1.4%, and the GMC Sierra EV is third at 1.6%. All three are at least 91.6% below the overall average on a relative basis.
The least colorful models tend to mirror the least colorful brands. Lexus accounts for seven of the bottom 20, including four of the eight lowest shares: LX 570 at 2.5%, RX 500h at 3.0%, RZ 300e at 4.3% and GX 460 at 4.6%. Mercedes-Benz contributes four entries, led by the C-Class hybrid at 3.6%. Even the least extreme entries in the bottom 20, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Mercedes-Benz CLS, offer only 7.0% non-grayscale cars, less than half the market’s 19.6% colorful share average.

Methodology
iSeeCars analyzed the exterior colors of over 12 million 1- to 5-year-old used cars on the road from January 2025 through May 2026. The share of grayscale cars (defined as black, white, gray, and silver) was calculated for each brand and for each model, and expressed as a difference from 100%, or the share of “colorful” cars. This share was then used to rank brands and models.
