- 2003-2008 BMW 3-Series – Sporty, stylish, everything you want it to be, the BMW 3-Series has long been known as the
ultimate driving machine. In fact, you can have it in all kinds of flavors, including coupe, highlighted as one of Edmunds 2010 Used Car Best Bets (2003-2008 model years). Athletic chassis, satisfying drive, plenty of performance and communicative steering all add up to why BMW 3-Series so appeals to enthusiasts. The 2007 redesign gave the 3-Series more power, all-wheel drive availability and a retractable hard-top to replace the traditional soft-top convertible. In a review of the then-new 2008 BMW 3-Series, Edmunds said, “Fully deserving of its popularity, the 2008 BMW 3 Series sets the standard for overall driving enjoyment, luxury and refinement in four different luxury segments.”
- 2003-2008 Infiniti G35 – Boasting rear-wheel drive, a “ripping” V6 and sporty suspension tuning, the 2003-2008 Infiniti
G35 is not only Infiniti’s answer to the BMW 3-Series, it’s also one of the most reliable coupes in Edmunds 2010 Used Car Best Bets. Most consumers opt for the sedan, but Edmunds says, “the rakish coupe offers Nissan 350Z (the G35’s platform mate) intenders more practicality with virtually identical performance.” Note that in 2008, the coupe model was the Infiniti G37. Consumer Reports also lists the Infiniti G35 as one of the other good choices in Best and Worst Used Cars. Consumer Guide had this to say of the 2008 Infiniti G: “These Infinitis might lack the brand prestige of rivals from Audi, BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes, but their performance, space, and available all-wheel drive make them excellent alternatives. These virtues, teamed with prices that undercut those rivals, make these coupes and sedans Best Buy values.”
- 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class – J.D. Power and Associates calls out the 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class in its 2011 Most
Dependable Vehicles study as highest-ranked compact premium sporty car. The Mercedes-Benz CLK actually came in six different models for 2008, including coupe and convertible body styles. In the ratings, the CLK-Class swept all categories with a perfect five stars in each (overall dependability, powertrain dependability, body and interior dependability and feature and accessory dependability. Here’s Edmunds, commenting on the then-new 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class: “The …CLK350 offers confident, stable handling, though serious enthusiasts are apt to prefer the sharper reflexes of the less expensive BMW 3 Series coupe. The V8-powered CLK550 provides a more enticing combination of performance and sophistication, rewarding the well-to-do driver with downright vigorous acceleration and equally composed road manners.”
