To find the best affordable luxury cars, iSeeCars analyzed over 13.8 million used cars to determine the most reliable cars based on their ability to reach 200,000 miles. Of the longest-lasting cars, these are the ones that are the most affordable. While the average new car price is $37,851, these luxury cars are slightly more expensive.

Lexus IS 300

Earning top honors for the best affordable luxury cars for sale is the Lexus IS 300 compact luxury car. Lexus, which is the luxury marque from Toyota, shares the reputation for longevity as its mainstream counterpart. The compact IS 300 has handsome exterior styling and an interior full of premium materials. It has a perfect 5-star safety rating and comes with many standard safety features as part of Lexus’ Safety System+ including lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high-beams, and high-speed adaptive cruise control. A new Lexus IS 300 has an average price of $38,560, while a lightly-used Lexus IS 300 for sale can be found for an average base price of $27,061.

Volvo S60

The Volvo S60 compact car takes the runner-up position. It has a luxurious cabin with standard features including a moonroof and premium sound system along with a suite of safety features including road departure mitigation, collision mitigation, and traffic sign recognition. 

A new version starts at $36,050, while a used Volvo S60 has an average three-year-old used car price of $21,704.

BMW 3-Series

The compact BMW 3-Series entry-level sedan ranks third. The ubiquitous 3-Series is among the most popular cars in its luxury small car class thanks to its sporty handling and comfortable seating. It also boasts one of the most powerful base engines in its class with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that provides 255 horsepower to provide the feel of a sports car. A new BMW 3-Series starts at $40,750, and while it doesn’t slide under the $40,000-mark like the rest of the vehicles on this list, we feel it still deserves consideration. You can find a lightly-used BMW 3 Series for sale for an average price of $22,921.

Audi A4

The Audi A4 compact car from Volkswagen’s luxury brand ranks fourth. It is known for being fun to drive while offering a smooth and comfortable ride. It also has an excellent fuel economy of 27 mpg city/35 mpg highway for its front-wheel-drive version, and is available with its Quattro all-wheel drive system that’s slightly less efficient. A new Audi A4 starts at $37,400, while a lightly-used Audi A4 for sale can be found for $23,591.

Acura RDX

The Acura RDX rounds out the list and is the only SUV to earn the distinction to the delight of practical luxury car buyers who require more cargo space. The RDX has a high quality cabin that is one of the nicest in its class. The RDX has many standard tech features including a touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Bluetooth connectivity. A new Acura RDX starts at $37,800, while a used Acura RDX for sale costs $24,978.

Cheapest Luxury Cars: Used Cars Under $30,000

Because of their high price tag, luxury cars are often leased. That means that lightly-used three-year-old versions are available in the used car marketplace to provide savings opportunities for buyers who want an affordable luxury vehicle. These cars have already taken most of their depreciation hit and have modern technology and safety features while costing significantly less than the vehicle’s new car starting price.

Lexus ES 350

Second place goes to the Lexus ES 350 midsize luxury sedan. It has a premium interior and a full suite of advanced safety features along with standard features including dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, front seats with 10-way power adjustments, leather upholstery, and proximity keyless entry. A three-year-old Lexus ES 350 for sale can be found with an average price of $27,435.

Buick Enclave

Ranked third is the Buick Encore subcompact SUV. It has a premium cabin, offers a comfortable ride, and has a user-friendly infotainment system. Despite its subcompact designation, it has ample cargo and passenger room. A lightly used Buick Enclave luxury SUV can be found with an average price of $25,067.

Audi A6

The Audi A6 ranks fourth. It offers a comfortable ride and agile handling, and is available with two engine options: a four-cylinder and a v6 engine. It also has a host of tech features and a user-friendly infotainment system. A lightly-used Audi A6 for sale costs an average of $27,843.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Ranked fifth is the Mercedes-Benz C-Class compact luxury sedan. It has one of the nicest interiors in its class while also having powerful engine choices. It is available as a sedan, coupe, or convertible. The average price of a three-year-old used Mercedes C-Class is $26,137.

BMW X3

Rounding out the list is the BMW X3 compact SUV. It is among the highest rated vehicles in its class thanks to its ride quality, cargo room, and premium interior.  Features include an engine stop-start system, keyless entry, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The average price of a three-year-old used BMW X3 is $26,598.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Ranked second is the Mercedes-Benz E-Class midsize luxury sedan. It has an upscale cabin typical for the automaker and offers a pleasant comfortable driving experience. Its base model features a 2.1-liter four-cylinder turbo engine and it has standard features including synthetic leather upholstery, 14-way power adjustable front seats, automatic headlights and Bluetooth connectivity. If you want a fuel-efficient luxury vehicle, a hybrid version is also available. A five-year-old Mercedes E-Class for sale can be found for $20,830.

BMW 5 Series

The BMW 5 Series ranks third. The 5-Series is among the highest-rated cars in its class thanks to its powerful engine, impressive fuel economy, and its smooth ride. It was discontinued after the 2019 model year, which means that new versions aren’t available. A 5-year-old used Cadillac CTS can be found for $23,604.
