Best Trucks with Panoramic Sunroof for 2024

These are the best trucks with panoramic sunroof based on iSeeCars' analysis of each vehicle’s reliability, resale value and safety.

The best full-size truck with panoramic sunroof is the Ford F-150 (8.8 / 10 iSeeCars score).

Trucks are known for their practical, do-anything nature, whether it’s towing a large trailer, carrying a heavy load, or traveling off-road. But they’ve also become popular family vehicles in recent years, with most of them sold as four-door, crew cab models offering two rows of comfortable seats and a refined, comfortable ride quality. It’s this latest evolution of the pickup truck that has led many full-size and midsize models to offer panoramic sunroofs, a premium feature normally associated with Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz luxury cars, not Chevy and Ford trucks.

A panoramic sunroof (or moonroof, as they are also known) goes beyond the typical sunroof option. The “panoramic roof” component is defined by a large glass roof that lets in plenty of natural light, even when the sunroof panel is closed. This design improves a truck’s cabin atmosphere, as the increased light gives the cabin a more open and airy feeling, with the large glass panel extending the effect over both the front and rear seats. Few trucks offer panoramic sunroofs as part of their standard features list on base models, but most of them have the option on “high-end” trim levels like the Ford F-150 Platinum or Ram 1500 Big Horn.

While the increased light and fresh air offered by a panoramic sunroof gives any truck a more premium feel, there are some downsides to this feature. First, it adds about 200 pounds of weight to the truck, hurting fuel economy to a small degree. Second, these sliding panels require space for motors and rails within the roof panel, which means reduced headroom. Finally, the increased light also means increased heat on bright, sunny days, along with increased glare on the infotainment touchscreen.

While a panoramic sunroof does nothing to improve a truck’s functionality, for buyers seeking luxury amenities this feature is right up there with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon’s Alex voice control in giving any truck an upscale, premium driving experience. iSeeCars has identified which models offer a panoramic sunroof and grouped them by size category. Within each category the trucks are ranked by their iSeeCars quality score, which takes reliability, resale value, and safety into consideration. Information on each model's new and used pricing, along with mpg ratings, are also included below.

How We Rank These Cars

The Best Cars with panoramic sunroof list ranks vehicles by their iSeeCars Score, which is based on our proprietary assessment of a vehicle’s reliability, resale value and safety (based on ratings from IIHS and NHTSA). The panoramic sunroof feature is available either standard or optional on these cars.

The iSeeCars Score is an analysis of three factors: reliability, resale value and safety. It is calculated based on the latest research and analysis by our data science team. The data analysis comes from over 12 million new and used vehicles in our Longest-Lasting Cars and 5-Year Depreciation Studies, combined with NHTSA and IIHS Safety Ratings.

Vehicles are scored in three categories:

Reliability

The reliability score represents an analysis of iSeeCars' proprietary research on the longest-lasting vehicles.

Value Retention

The value retention score is based on our data science team's statistical analysis and prediction of 5-year depreciation from MSRP to determine which cars hold their value best, using US Bureau of Labor Statistics data to adjust for inflation.

Safety

The safety score is calculated based on the last five years of crash test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and incorporates the latest Top Safety Pick information from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
