1992 oldsmobile achieva won't stay running? - my friend bought a '92 olds achieva the other day. this morning she calls and says she is having problems with it. the car will start if you give it gas and it will stay running if you keep giving it enough gas to stay at 2k rpm. as soon as you take your foot off the gas it dies. what could be the problem? it's a 4 cyl. front wheel drive w/ a throttle body. it was running fine when she shut it off last night. that's all the info i have.

Tune up for 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva S? - I just bought it 3 weeks ago. 3.1L V6 97,500 miles. I want to give it a tune up, like a real good one, I am also looking to improve the gas mileage a little cause I think it can do better. I am willing to spend $100-200 for now. What needs to be done in a tune up for this car?

95 Oldsmobile Achieva? I saw a 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva for sell for $600...? - 95 Olds Achieva for sell for $600 but it has195k miles, but it states nothing is wrong with it. Should i buy it or is it too risky to buy its due to the larg amount of miles on it......what is the maximum amount of miles on this type of car before it gives out?

oldsmobile achieva wont run? The secuity light on? - someone broke into my 96 achieva and tryed to steal the car, so i bought a whole new ingtion key and lock for it and the light is still on, it starts up for 10 to 20 seconds then the light flashes and turns off.. how do i fix it or by pass it

96 oldsmobile achieva? - I have tried looking in my manual but it was no help. I bought a freon recharge kit and it said to use the low port and NOT to use the high port. Problem is...I found where the high port is but I can't find the low port. And the instructions to the kit told where you could find it...but I don't know what the accumalator and all that stuff is! Please help, its HOT in Texas! well the top two answers don't really help. there is no big aluminum looking thingy b/c anything metal under the hood is painted the same color as my car. I did find two ports (I think) one has a green top...the other a red...the green one is at the back and the red one is up at the front..i guess behind the radiator..if that what it is up at the front.

tech question on 1994 oldsmobile achieva? - having problem with 94 achieva turn signal switch tail lights and dash lights went out on my sons car and a new one costs 200 bucks and a used one cost 80 bucks at junk yard but he only makes 7 bucks a hour is there anyway i can tap into tail lights and dash lights and put in a toggle switch to run these lights he got stopped buy the cops and gave him a repair warning idiotic answers keep to yourself i havent had much experience on these turn signal switches that run all your lights just wodering if this can be done and just use butt connectors when he can afford new switch not just a tech question anybody who has worked on these cars yes fuses were checked and are good and checked them with test light and traced all wires are good no dead shorts the problem is in the switch as i stated this happened before so i do know where the problem is and as leaving switches on you can buy toggle swith that light up and off

1995 Oldsmobile Achieva will to much oil make motor engine lock up? - I have a 1995 Achieva 3.1 L v6. The car was running very poorly dying at stops signs. I just bought new vacuum lines the day before motor locked up. It ran more poorly when I added the new lines. The dip stick shows way to much oil was in it. I've check for oil in radiator fluid and radiator fluid in the oil. Theres neither one in either of them. The spark plugs show no fluids behind them. At first I thought it was the starter and waste $85. It justs clicks one time when you turn the key. I know its not a bad battery because I have a optima red top and have put it on another car to make sure and jumped it off the first day it locked up. I just want to make sure it is in fact locked up and not something smaller. I tried spinning my belt by hand and the very bottom pully assuming crank shaft would not spin the belt just slipped around it. Also when putting in the starter I tried to spin the flywheel a little with a screwdriver and it wouldnt move. I just put a trans in it less than 3 weeks ago along with all new front end parts. Please help if you can this is bugging me. I try everyday to crank it with nothing but one click as a response. I know its sad (me steady trying to crank the car) but I just cant believe it. Ok it was way to much oil like probably 4 or 5 quarts dont ask me why have no clue. I think it wasnt reading on dip stick and my brother kept adding it. When I got to dipstick is was atleast 1 in above full line. When I recieved the trans I was going to use the torque converter was knocked loose. My mechanic just picked it up and put it back in place. The car ran poorly for like 3 days stalling at stop signs and red lights unless I had my foot on the gas and the brakes then it would stay running. I tried draining some of the oil it still wont crank. I've tried the battery off of my other car when I switched them out to charge the optima red top. It just clicks once when the batteries dead I get several clicks. Looked at battery cables as well. Also looked at flywheel teeth when I removed the starter to try and move it. I just put around $1400 in this car and now its a paper weight. If you need anymore info just let me know. Another question can I just remove the torque converter from my old trans or do I have to reset this one and hope it stays on this time? The old trans had gears stripped.

1994 Oldsmobile Achieva S 4dr - Runs rough under acceleration? - The engine is a 2.3L Quad OHC I have replaced the spark plugs,thought the converter was plug so disconnected it no improvement. I bought the car for 50 bucks and is in excellent condition exect for this,......lol... it runs and idles fine even when I rev her up. The person I bought it from said it had a new timming belt put in could it be it is 180 degrees off, but it only does this under load. I also found a vaseline like substance in the boot which connects to the spark plug. MAYBE FOUL PLAY, or is this some thing they put in the spark plug boot. I have been told it might be coil pack? If so is there a way to check this or is it one of the other sensors. If so which ones and how would you check them I have a muti meter. Also I noticed that when I hooked the exhaust back up the converter seems to get really hot!!!!
