Overview
The Outlander and the Rogue share an interesting history, being rivals over most of their history and near-siblings today. Mitsubishi made a name for the Outlander by offering it at a lower price point and higher practicality level when compared to nearly all rivals. The Rogue was designed and marketed by Nissan as a mass-market compact SUV with the latest version offering high-tech features and comfortable ride quality meant to set the benchmark for the segment. Because of these differences, the Outlander has a cheaper interior design dominated by hard plastics and rudimentary shapes. The Rogue has a more comfortable, upscale design by comparison. In their latest generation, however, the two vehicles are closer than ever, with designs based on the same global platform thanks to the recent Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. But the new Outlander does offer three rows of seating, and while the third row isn’t the roomiest or most comfortable for adults, it is an option the Rogue doesn’t provide.
