What is causing the hesitation problem in my Toyota T100 truck? - Background on this fine truck: I have this 1995 T100 with 199,000 miles on it that was sitting for like 3 years. I bought it for $800 from my dad's friend and have driven it about 500 miles since then. It didn't run when I bought it; I had to put in a new fuel pump. The tank was rusty inside, but not terrible. We cleaned it out as well as we could. We had to replace the fuel filter too because it was clogged. Up until a few days ago it's been driving great. So here is the problem: The other day I noticed some hesitation going up a steep hill after the truck had been running for about 15 minutes, but nothing serious, so I didn't pay much attention to it. Like it missed a beat a couple times. So today I drive this thing out and it does fine for the first 5 minutes I'm driving it. Then I get onto a 50 mph road and as I'm accelerating in second gear it starts to really miss. It sounds pretty bad but never quite stalls. After it's been in that gear for a few seconds, it starts running better, but still not perfect. Then I shift into third and it does the same crap again--hesitates really bad for a few seconds until the RPM's get up, then it steadies out, but still isn't perfect. The truck got me where I needed to go, and most of the way home. But when I was going up a hill near home it finally stalled out. Crank it back up, and it runs just fine until I get back to my house, which was less then 5 minutes away. Dad decides to drive it around and see what's up right after I get back, and it doesn't act badly at all until he's been driving it around for a few minutes. If I sit there and rev it up in neutral there's no problem. SO: It appears that the problem has something to do not as much with how warm the truck is, but how long it's been cranked. I know it's either spark or fuel (well, maybe the transmission? but I don't think so). What does this sound like to you? Do you think the fuel filter has become clogged, or is it more likely that the plugs or wires are bad? Or do you have some other suggestion? I appreciate any input VERY much! OH YEAH, and the check engine light came on the first time it did this.

How long do you think I could still drive my truck with a bearing going out in my manual transmission? - I have a 93 Toyota T100 4x4 truck. and it has lately for the past few months had difficulty going into gear, especially 1st gear and reverse. When I try to put it into reverse there is a grinding noise most of the time, and first just is sometimes a bit of a struggle, but not too bad. I was told that it is not my clutch, but it is due to a bearing going out in my transmission or the synchronisers. I was told also that it would be more expensive to repair this than it would be to buy a used transmission to replace it with and that it would be better to just drive it for as long as I could put it into gear while I looked for a cheap used transmission. But my question is, how long could it go? It is going to last more than likely a lot longer than if the clutch was going out , you think? I was told it could maybe be driveable even for another year or more, but just be aggravating. What is your opinion?? Why?? Thanks!~! BTW, IT DOESNT USE TRANSMISSION OIL. IT USES GEAR OIL. ARE THERE ANY TRICKS TO KEEPING IT FROM GRINDING WHEN TRYING TO PUT IT INTO REVERSE??
