2007-04-08 00:17:12 Does anyone know how much money to have a shop replace an oil pump on a '92 Subaru Loyale? - Or the cost to buy one to do it myself? 2006-03-26 18:22:49 91 Subaru Loyale, $800, should I buy? - My uncle, who is a professional mechanic, is offering me his son's 1991 white Subaru Loyale station wagon. It's 5 speed manual, 4 wheel drive, automatic locks/windows. I know my uncle isn't pushing me to buy it or trying to persuade me, since it's his son's and he doesn't really care, so I'm getting straight facts. The good: -4 wheel drive, and winter is coming so I'll be set. -Only $800 dollars, which is cheap!! Plus, he would let me make payments, such as $350 down and $100 a month. -My uncle wouldn't lie or cheat me, he's telling me the straight up facts without any bias; it's a very reliable source. -LOTS OF ROOM! Seats 5 with massive trunk space. The bad: -230,000 miles -Engine burns and leaks oil, I need to replace about a quart every 500 miles or so (uncle said check it every other time I fill up my tank.) -Wheel barring is grinding, uncle said it would be around $200 to replace, but if I didn't want to it would only get a little louder in the next year. Despite all the bad, or maybe in spite of it, my uncle guaranteed me at least 1 year with the car, or at least 10,000 miles, possibly more. I'm 16 and this would be my first car, I'm not looking for something fancy or super nice, just something that can get me around and to work for a while. I'm torn, and I don't know much about buying, or worth, or any of that sort of thing. Help? :) 2009-11-20 15:45:35 |
