My 93 Olds Regency 88 won't start? - I just bought a 1993 Oldsmobile Regency 88 with the 3.8L. Started right up and test drove just fine. After returning with the money and signing the title and receipt I tried starting it and it fired up and died 10 seconds later, tried again fired up for 3 seconds and died and now it will not start. Cranks over and tries to start but will not. I have replaced the spark plugs (fouled out) and fuel filter, seems to have decent pressure now. I ran the codes and got 18 CAM signal error and 42 Electronic Spark Timing Monitor Error. Not sure which way to run with this now.... The car is fully loaded and in decent shape so I'm not afraid to put a little more money into it just don't want to get outrageous... Thanks in Advance, Josh

Keep 90' Lesabre 160,000 miles, or go to a 32,000 mile 1988 Olds 88 Regency? - My friend Adam, is thinking about buying a 1988 Oldsmobile 88 regency Brogham. The car only has 32,000 miles on it. And the corner lot is selling it for $2500. He could probably get them down in price. But since the car was grandma driven, on average it was driven 1500 miles a year. The car has a clean car fax. Right now he has a 1990 buick lesabre limited with 160,000 miles on it but with a rebuilt that was installed at 100k miles. What would be some of the pro's and the con's of going to an even older car but with a fifth of the miles? What would he be gaining? He is asking me for advice and I don't know what to tell him. I have heard of a lot of things that can go wrong once a grandma car starts to be driven daily. like brake lines, gas lines, engine troubles, etc. Is this true, and if so, what should he expect to go wrong? Or would everything be fine if he babied it. Everyone is pre-warning him of all the things that can go wrong. But they are all hear-says.

I have a 1986 Oldsmobile 98 regency, it misses even after a tune up, new ignition module and coil packs.? - The car has a 3.8 V-6, 132,000 miles, excellent shape, bought it from a little old lady that could not drive anymore. It misses, when it's cold, not as bad. I've replaced, plugs, wires, ignition module, coil packs. I ran a code reader and nothing came up. While driving, it will lose power, if you down shift it, it gets going fine. It's a really nice car and don't want to give up. Any ideas? The lights flicker at idle also, but checked the alternater, its fine.

Will a 1995-2004 Upper intake manifold 3.8 3800 work for my 1995 Oldsmobile 88 Royale? Read the rest...? - I have a 1995 Oldsmobile 88 Royale 3800 series 3.8 thats needs a new replaced Upper intake manifold. I recently bought a 3.8 3800 intake manifold for a year 1995-2004 and in the description from the seller it says its for the make and models of 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 oldsmobile delta 88, 1995 1996 oldsmobile 98 Regency and a 1998 1999 oldsmobile Intrigue. I have a oldsmobile 88 royale tho which it didnt say but i looked at the part under my hood and the part i bought under that description and it looks like the same exact part so i took it to the shop where im getting my car fixed and the man said yea it looks like the right piece as long as it is a 3.8 3800 intake manifold it should work... Will it /should it??

My car has had the problem of shutting off while driving, wondering if someone had some advice? - I recently bought a 1997 Oldsmobile Regency with 135,000 miles on it. For the first week everything was in working order, no problems with the car. Then i was driving down the road one day and all of the sudden the car completely shuts off, with no stalling or sputtering. I have since replaced the fuel pump, oil pressure sensor, and throttle position sensor. I have also checked all of the fuses and relays, with no luck at all in fixing the problem. It has continued to shut off while i am driving at least once or twice a day. I cant think of anything else it could be. Could someone please give me something to lead on?

How much horsepower do this engine put out? - I'm about to pick up a 1976 Oldsmobile Regency Ninety-Eight, which I came across the other day. Its the exact same model/color as the one my grandpa owned when I was a kid, so it holds sentimental value. I was just curious though, as to what sort of horsepower it puts out. Its equip with the Olds 455 rocket big block, but i believe they downgraded the performance of this engine for this year, and possibly the previous year or two also. I was guessing somewhere in the range of 310-330ish, but not completely sure. Anyhow, the entire car is in pretty much perfect condition, with the exception of some rotted out brake/gas lines and the need for a new gas tank. That's to be expected of a car that has sat around for a good 10 years. If you happen to know this Lil piece of trivia, I would be very grateful. Its just one of those things that sort of annoy me, and I can't seem to find it on the internet anywhere. regardless of whether i find it or not I'm still buying it though.
