2007-06-13 09:00:52 Is the Mercury Mariner Hybrid a car worth looking at? If so, why? - We're looking to get a new car, and we're really interested in buying a hybrid. The Mariner seems to be priced right, and I like what I'm hearing out of Ford. 2006-08-24 08:57:20 Anyone own a Mercury Mariner hybrid? - Do you like it? What's it's best and worst features? Would you buy it again? We are swapping an '03 minivan for a more green vehicle. I do not want any of the hybrid cars on the market, but quite like the size and versatility of the Mariner hybrid. Any recommendations and blunt advice would be welcome! 2008-08-16 19:17:10 2006 Mercury Mariner HYBRID Nav/cd/radio.. the nav controls barely work.? - I have to bang the dial to make it move. Anybody have this problem? Anybody know what I can do about this other than buying a new unit? Thanks in advance. 2008-05-29 08:59:18 i'm thinking of buying a suv.. honda crv, mercury mariner, mazda tribute, nissan rogue, or any other affordabl - suggestions. comments... i'm having such a hard time with this.. i'd like to buy an suv as family is growing and i live deep within the fur trees.. but i can't figure out which will be the most reliable,, and least depreciating in value.. any suggestions, personal preferences, and why? oh and don't suggest hybrid because i can't afford one. 2008-05-27 20:39:49 Just bought new car, wondering about warranty.? - Hey guys, I recently bought a new mercury mariner hybrid, since its an suv that gives over 34mpg in the city. It comes with a 6 year, 60,000 mile warranty. However, I have heard some rumors that mercury might not survive...since ford/lincoln/mercury are basically the same brand, will ford cover the warranty if mercury does not survive? 2007-11-01 22:24:30 Hybrid SUV experiences? - I need an suv-type vehicle that can deal with snow/ice and mountains. In its "daily" life, it will basically be a shuttle for kids and groceries in a temperate climate. I'm considering the Ford Escape Hybrid and Mercury Mariner Hybrid (basically the same vehicle?). I considered the Toyota Highlander but I don't really need a 3rd row. I also considered non-hybrids like the crv and rav4. My concerns/priorities are: 1. Safety 2. Reliability 3. Ability to handle ice and mountains 4. Not horrible for the environment 5. Smooth/quiet ride/comfort This is more about being somewhat environmentally responsible than about saving money on gas, if that helps focus your answers. I'm looking to buy in mid-Dec. or early Jan. Please only answer if you have experience with hybrids or have done research. It doesn't help me to read "all Fords/Mercurys/Saturns suck" Thanks for your help! My current car is 11 years old. My husband will keep it as his transportation to/from light rail and to drive in to his office once a week. The hybrid suv (or gas small suv) will replace his 10-year-old Expedition which gets horrible mileage. Any small SUV will be an improvement in fuel economy and handling. We plan to continue our policy of keeping vehicles for 10 years or more, and fortunately in CA the battery of a hybrid will be covered by warranty for that length of time. Even if the vehicle had to be trashed at that point, it (including the battery) can be recycled. A bicycle is not feasible transportation when you have children and must drive to purchase groceries and household items. I really am just asking for input about the specific suvs I mentioned--I have researched hybrid vs. gas extensively and I know how to drive an SUV safely in the snow. Also, the hybrids I mention here emit roughly 1/2 the emissions of gas-powered vehicles of similar size (the CRV and RAV4). I believe that helps the environment, and I believe that we as a country should be decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels (including gasoline). I also believe that hybrids are not the answer, but that if consumers want more environmentally friendly vehicles, we must support the efforts of auto-makers to encourage more advancements in this field. 2007-10-01 14:41:57 What car should I buy am 16? - Hey so parents are looking into buying me a new car so for my age what is the best kind of vehicle I should look into. I need something that isn't to expensive Iv'e looked into The mercury mariner hybrid 08' and thats what i like but i not sure about gas mileage. so if you have any cars in mind could you let me no please? the only car I dont really like is the taho 2007-12-02 09:41:08 What type of truck should I get? - I am trying to decide between a 2007 Lincoln Mark Lt, fully loaded, 15k miles, and a 2007 Mercury Mariner Hybrid, fully loaded, 12k miles. The truck is going to cost me $28,000 and the hybrid is going to cost me $20,000. I am paying cash, which I've had to work for about 4 years to earn. I am a college student, so I think the hybrid will benefit me in terms of gas, insurance, and practical use. On the other hand, for just $8,000 more, the truck is much more luxurious and just seems a bit more attractive. Is there a way I can justify purchasing the truck? What can I use the truck for (ie: hauling) so that it will pay for itself? Should I just buy the hybrid? 2008-04-13 12:15:56 If the Ford Escape Hybrid had a Plug-In option, it could go 100 miles per gallon. Would you buy one with this? - The Ford Escape has cousins in the Mercury Mariner and Mazda Tribute, which also will have 2008 hybrid versions. The Front Wheel Drive version gets the best gas mileage (as much as 37 miles/gallon), compared to the All Wheel Drive version. I have been anticipating buying a Front Wheel Drive, but was holding off for a Plug-In version, which I thought would come out in 2008. Apparently, Ford still doesn't get it, and is slow to the market on this. The only way to currently get a Plug-in Escape Hybrid is to buy $10,000 after market installation from a 3rd party, which eliminates any savings and voids the warranty. I have emailed Ford to let them know that I will not buy a new Ford vehicle of any kind until this hybrid is available in a plug-in version, and I suggest you do the same. We could achieve 100 miles per gallon in these SUVs, if your driving profile is primarily city driving at 25 mph. I could go 6 of 7 days per week on electric alone, if I could plug it in. 2007-04-11 09:47:10 |
