Broken exhaust pipe Lexus GS 400?

I have a 2000 Lexus GS 400 that I bought to drive back and forth to work (90 miles a day)... I was driving it and all of the sudden the Lexus sounded like a Camaro! I took it to have it looked at, and I was told that it rusted and broke right in the middle, underneath the car. Can this be welded, or maybe spliced and weld another piece of pipe to fill in the gap? They do not make after market exhaust systems for this car, and I don't want to pay $800 to get one from Lexus! Bear in mind, this is not my primary vehicle, so I don't care is it's "done right the first time", I just want the noise gone, and the car to be safe!
Let me know what to do!

Midas (one of the largest muffler shops in the world) told me that nobody makes that exaust system after-market. And, yes they were the ones who quoted me $866 to replace it. Please answer my question, don't tell me something that I already know, especially if it's wrong!
