2001 Land rover Freelander - Buying Advice From Owners? - Hello all, I'm about to buy a 2001 Freelander Serenghetti Edition.with the Hardback for the princely sum of £4000.00 Can anyone give me some buying advice? It's the 1.8 K series engine wich I know has head gasket trouble, but that doesnt bother me (i drive an MGF which went 80k without blowing it, besides). It's only covered 34000 miles (owned by a rich mans wife and was used to walk the dog and do lunch!) with a full history and appears to be in A1 condition with the exception of a scratched boot interior from the dog. I'm buying it because I go on and off building sites a lot (not becuase I need achelsea tractor!), so I dont need the diesel model to pull anything, and the Japanese alternatives look so damn agricultural next to the reelander, not to mention they're considerably pricier the the Hippo. Do they have any particular areas I need to pay special attention to other than the obvious head gasket woes? Thanks in advance

I just bought a used Land Rover Freelander. I need an extra key made cheaper than the dealer's price? - I have checked all of the "key makers" in my area and they all say the same...I have to go to the dealer. The dealer charges $100 to make a key (because of the transponder chip.) YIKES! Is there anywhere in the country I can get a cheaper Land Rover key made?

land rover freelander expansion tank cap? - Hi, we have just bought a land rover freelander 1.8 2001 model andone day after it overheated so my partner checked the water and to our surprise there wasnt any in it. So he filled it up and then took it back but it was empty when he checked the next day. He has bleed it and filled it again but we still see it is losing water. He then went on a forum and someone said that they changed the expansion tank cap and theirs seems to be fine. Apparently freelander designed a new type of expansion tank cap and so this person changed theirs to the new type and its fine. What i would like to know is where can i get this new cap? which one is it as i have found 2 on this site http://www.famousfour.co.uk/new_parts/parts.php?veh=freelander&sec=cool one yellow and one black but i dont know which is the new one. It has to be the new version as obviously the old original caps dont do their job. Please help. Rachael Hi thanks for ur response. The area is keighley and yes we did see smoke coming out of the bonnet when it overheated and he pulled over straight away.
