HELLO Thinking of buying a land rover discovery (1999 and earlier) any tips for my hunt? - I go to school in the Southwest and it seems the ones in my price range ($5500) are located in LA so I'll have to ship it to my location (about $900). This will be my first SUV. It will be kept in a desert location, but is there anything I should know in advance in terms of maintenance, recalls, suggestions? Is there a cheaper alternative to the Land Rover ?

Advice ref buying Land Rover Defender 90? - Hi, I have the opportunity to buy a 1989 Land Rover Defender 90, it is the two door version with hard top cab at the back, mileage is average for its age, condition is not bad just a few rusty bits, mostly cosmetic, underneath nice and sound, the MOT runs out in March 2008, the guy wants £800, is this a reasonable amount considering its age and type? I only want it as a runaround and to get me to and from work mostly for the winter months. Thanks in advance. Mike

just bought a land rover free lander and its drinking water and oil and petrol? - just bought land rover free lander it looks like its had the head gasket changed it runs fine no burning oil it just drinks water and oil and petrol can you help the heater is fine expansion tank always runs dry with oil in it which is slightly creamy....
