Just Bought 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Now it Won't Start? - I just paid $2000 for a 1995 Monte Carlo, from a private dealer. The guy buys and fixes up a lot of cars and then sells them. This particular car he had, he said it had not been driven in 5 years. So he went over it, put new tires, new brakes, and basic maintenaince. He also said that he rebuilt the engine. My mom put the car on the road for me, so today after I finished paying it off I went to pick the car up. We were about to go out to dinner...and I was going to drive my new car for the first time, when I turned it on, I put the car in reverse, I tried to push on the brakes, and the car didn't stop. It rolled back into another car. No damage was done, but I tried putting the car in drive to pull away and the car would not move. Finally we pushed the car up. And my step-dad, who has some good experience on cars, said the brakes are fine. I then tried to turn the car back on, and it won't start now. We tried jumping the battery, but it seemed to be fine. My step-dad says he can feel a jump or something like that when he tries to start the car. So, he says he's pretty sure its the timing in the car. He's going to look at it, and try to fix it. But, is there anything from this information that could be wrong with it? I really don't know what to do. I spent all my money on this car, and now I have no transportation. So any advice would be appreciated.

monte carlo nightmares...? - I just bought a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Limited Edition Pace Car Replica... only 1300 made... had it for a week and it was totaled by a drunk driver.... hit and run to boot, no info on driver... just venting, and looking for one for sale if anyone sees one... my favorite is an 85 ss... i don't like any monte carlos from 89 to 2000... im not even sure i like the new ones

My sons 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 3.1L V6 is hard to start? - The car has 198K miles on it and it has been a good car. It over heated Jun 21st and shut down on him as he was returning home after a 60 mile drive down the interstate. The oil and coolant were fine but I am pretty sure it is either his waterpump and/or thermostat. I have not had it fixed yet. The car is hard to start. It takes about 10 seconds for the engine to start up. Once it starts the engine is smooth and quiet and you can drive it 5-10 minutes and it has seemingly normal power. It smokes slightly out the exhaust as is probably normal for a car with 198K miles on it. I only drove it a few miles as I did not want to completely ruin the engine. Being the car has alot of miles on it, we were planning on replacing it with a car that had fewer miles on it anyway. Yesterday we found a car with 102K on it and bought it. I plan on either selling the car cheap, like $500 or even for scrap. I am wondering if car is worth fixing. Thanks for all the answers, they were all informative. I have a guy supposed to come look at it for $500. I'd be happy with that much out of it.

PLEASE HELP 1984 MONTE CARLO? - IM ABOUT TO BUY A CAR AND THE CAR THAT IM LOOKING AT HE SAY'S THAT THE EXHAUST IS NOT HOOKED UP. AND it is hard 4 the car to stay on for a long period time because you're not supposed 2 drive a car with no exhaust. IS THIS TURE. ITS A 1984 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO IT LOOKS NICE NEW PAINT JOB.

Monte Carlo OR Eclipse? - Alright, I'm planning on buying a used car this weekend. I have narrowed it down to two main considerations: 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS & 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder They both cost about the same so the price doesn't really matter, and they both have the same number of miles, 100k. MONTE CARLO: ....It has a salvage title. The guy who is selling it (not from dealer) owns a Auto Repair shop and he has now fixed it back to new condition. (Im only going by his word, i've yet to see it). This is his exact statement: "This car is in excellent overall condition. Silver exterior with black leather interior. Fully loaded. Power seats. Rear spoiler. CD. Automatic. 100K miles. Smogged. Registered. Ice cold A/C. Tires are in great shape. Tinted windows. Power sunroof. Will take best offer. This car does have a salvage/rebuilt title due to a fender bender in the right front. It was repaired beautifully by a professional body shop. Suspension parts were replaced by A-1 Auto Repair, and it got a brand new rim. The alignment came out perfect. It has had all factory quality repairs and it runs, drives, and functions like new. All of the damage has been completely repaired. Smog, brake, and lamp inspections are done and registered with DMV" The car looks great.
